One dead after ‘altercation’ outside popular Kelowna, B.C. nightclub
A Kelowna nightclub was the scene of a homicide Friday evening when a fight broke out, leaving one person dead. As Jasmine King reports, a number of witnesses were identified, but no arrests have been made – Aug 14, 2022

One man is dead following an altercation in downtown Kelowna Friday night.

RCMP said the altercation took place outside of a nightclub in the 200 block of Lawrence Avenue. The only nightclub in that immediate area is the Liquid Zoo at 274 Lawrence Avenue.

The victim was taken to Kelowna General Hospital and pronounced dead a short time later.

According to RCMP, following the incident, officers saw one man fleeing the area on foot.

“At this point in the investigation, police do not believe the victim and suspect were not known to each other prior to this incident,” said Kelowna RCMP Sgt. Kevin Duggan.

The homicide investigation has been turned over to the Kelowna Serious Crime Unit and investigators are continuing to canvas the area for evidence.

“We have identified a number of individuals in the area who witnessed the altercation. Investigators would like to speak with them,” said Kelowna RCMP Insp. Beth McAndie.

“We are encouraging those witnesses to reach out to our investigators using our Tip Line 250-470-6236.”

No arrests have been made at this time.
