Residents in Moncton neighbourhood asked to stay inside with RCMP ‘operation’ underway

New Brunswick RCMP were at the scene of a “police operation” on Argyle Street in Moncton on Sunday afternoon, and asked nearby residents to stay inside.

Staff Sgt. Andre Pepin tells Global News the operation got underway around 11:30 Sunday morning, in the area of 245 Argyle St.

Streets in the immediate area were closed.

At 3:40 p.m., police updated the situation to say the operation had concluded.

“Streets are reopened to traffic,” RCMP wrote in a tweet.

“Residents can now come and go from their homes. RCMP thanks the public for their cooperation.”
