Montreal’s Sarah Cook is an inspiration. She was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare form of cancer that attacks the bones, when she was just eight years old.
When Sarah was treated at Montreal Children’s Hospital, she was inspired to help others through their battles with cancer. In 2001 the Cook family formed the Sarah Cook Fund for the Cedars Cancer Institute. The fund has raised over $4.5 million dollars for pediatric cancer treatment and care.
Sarah’s cancer returned in 2009, but she has continued to stay positive and bring hope to others around her. Her latest challenge is to rally the Montreal community, and raise funds and awareness for cancer research, by participating in the I Ride for LiveStrong campaign.
Radio Shack and LiveStrong are having a 12 day virtual ride to honour cancer survivors and raise money for and to support the global fight against cancer. In July at the tour de France, Lance Armstrong and team Radio Shack will ride for the heroes who received the most cheers in the virtual race. You can help get Sarah’s name on Lance’s bike, by voting online daily and passing her story along.

About the ride
I RIDE FOR LIVESTRONG is a virtual ride based on the Amgen Tour of California. It’s an interactive game where you can create your own bike, state who you ride for and race through the California landscape while raising awareness about the global fight against cancer. The race is presented by the Lance Armstrong Foundation with the generous support of their partners RadioShack and Trek.
Supporters can ‘cheer’ once per day for the duration of the race. Sunday May 23 at 5PM PST is the last day of the race.
If 10,000 virtual riders join in the first 48 hours of the race, RadioShack will donate $75,000 to the Lance Armstrong Foundation for their global work to fight cancer.
3 riders at the end of the race will have their I RIDE FOR sticker placed on Lance Armstrong’s bike during this year’s Tour de France. The riders in positions 4-100 will have the opportunity get their stickers placed on the rig of one of the other Team Radio Shack riders.
