OTTAWA – The Supreme Court of Canada will not hear a Saskatoon’s woman appeal of her conviction for refusing to file a census form.

Sandra Finley refused to fill out and submit the 2006 long form population census, citing privacy concerns and Lockheed Martin’s role in conducting the survey for Statistics Canada.

She was found guilty in 2011 of failing to submit the form under the Statistics Act and given an absolute discharge.

Two previous appeals to overturn the conviction were unsuccessful.

Finley was hopeful the high court would hear her appeal after an Ontario court found 89-year-old Audrey Tobias not guilty on Wednesday for refusing to fill out the 2011 census.

The Supreme Court did not give reasons for refusing to hear Finley’s appeal.
