Two men in hospital after fire in Scarborough

TORONTO – One man is in critical condition and another man was also injured after a fire in Scarborough overnight.

Both men are in their 40s and one of them suffered second and third degree burns to 90 per cent of his body.

The fire started just before 3:30 a.m. on Coronation Drive in the Morningside and Lawrence area.

According to Toronto Fire Services, the fire started in the basement of the house where both men were living.

It appears that a mattress caught fire and a lit cigarette may have been the cause.
