Premier Darrell Dexter loses his seat as the NDP carnage piles up

Premier Darrell Dexter has lost his seat in a sweeping Liberal defeat of the first NDP government.

The entire metro area, generally an NDP stonghold, is flush with Liberal red.

Youth worker Tony Ince nabbed the Cole Harbour – Portland Valley seat for the Liberals with  40.9 per cent, leaving Dexter trailing closely with 40.6 per cent of the votes.

The slim margin of Dexter’s loss will trigger an automatic recount.

PC Gregory Frampton took in 18.4 per cent of the vote.

In 2009 Dexter was elected to the former district of Cole Harbour with 69 per cent of the vote.
