Pamela Anderson’s Ladysmith condo project stalls

Despite Pamela Anderson saying last summer that she was fast-tracking plans for her $50-million waterfront development in Ladysmith, her partner in the project says there has been little progress on their ambitious plan.

"I don’t know exactly where she’s at with it right now," said Victoria’s Geoff Courtnall, a former NHL player who is working with the Hollywood star on the development.

While in Victoria last June, Anderson said she wanted to kick the 83-unit condominium and townhouse development into high gear. At the time, Courtnall said construction plans would be shifted to start building the townhouses in the middle of the property – units with price points likely to sell quickly in a recovering market – and then to the waterfront.

But just a few weeks before Anderson’s appearance on the Island, Courtnall told the Daily News that the project was on hold until the real estate market recovers.

Courtnall said Thursday he hasn’t spoken with Anderson since her trip to Victoria last summer. He said there’s still no timeline on when the project will move ahead, adding again that it would depend on the real estate market.

"It’s going to be a lot of work to move forward," he said. "We’ll see what happens."

Arcadia at Oyster Bay is planned to have five- and six-storey condo towers, with 26 units each, as well as 11 townhouses and 20 waterfront homes at the northern end of Chemainus Road, just off the Island Highway at Ladysmith. The environmentally friendly project would be constructed on land where Anderson grew up.
