Although Metro Vancouver escaped relatively unscathed by this weekend’s storm, the weather forecast for the next week holds barely a ray of sunshine, with rain expected pretty much every day until Sunday.

Global BC meteorologist Mark Madryga says this September is much wetter than average, as several thunderstorms crossed the Lower Mainland during the month, plus two strong Pacific storms hit last weekend.

“145 mm of rain has been recorded at the Vancouver Airport, well above the average rainfall of 54 mm for the month,” says Madryga.

“In contrast, last September was extremely dry with only five mm in the rain gauge.”

Three years ago, the rainfall toll for September stood at 166 mm, making 2013 the second wettest since 2004.
