1 man in custody, another sought by Calgary police after suspicious death of woman

Calgary police have one man in custody and are seeking another in connection with the suspicious death of a woman found injured downtown Friday morning.

Police arrived at the 100 block of 10 Avenue S.E. at approximately 6:40 a.m. Friday for reports of an assault.

According to police, officers found an injured woman in her 20s unconscious.

First responders try to revive her, but she died shortly afterward.

The sidewalk along 10 Avenue between 1 Street and 2 Street S.E. remained closed Friday afternoon, however the roadway in that location was open to traffic.

Police are seeking public assistance to identify and locate a man believed to have information related to this incident.

He’s described as approximately 5’10″ tall with a slim build. He was wearing a navy sweatshirt, black sweatpants, a black toque, white running shoes and a black facial covering.

Police have not released the woman’s identity. An autopsy is expected to take place Monday.
