Drug trafficking charges laid after Canada Post packages intercepted

EDMONTON- An Edmonton man has been charged after police seized over $160,000 in drugs from a home in the city’s southwest.

The charges come after the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Teams’ Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit intercepted two packages Thursday, sent through Canada Post. The packages contained vials of anabolic steroids.

After the packages were found, police searched a home in the area of 201st Street and 48th Avenue. Officers seized 1,350 vials of various types of anabolic steroids, derivatives of steroids, drug trafficking paraphernalia, an operational conductive energy weapon and over $29,000 in cash.

The estimated street value of the drugs is about $160,000.

Richard Dustin Cosman, 32, has been charged with two counts of trafficking of a controlled substance, one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking of a controlled substance, one count of possession of a prohibited weapon, and three counts of breach of a court order.

Cosman is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, Sept. 30.

The investigation is ongoing.
