Teens charged, after slamming head-on into RCMP cruiser

RED DEER, Alta- Two teens are facing serious charges, after a RCMP cruiser was hit head on.

Just before 3 a.m. on Thursday, two officers were on patrol near 71 Street in Red Deer, when they attempted to pull over a vehicle for an infraction.

The car sped away, trying to flee before turning around and heading straight towards the cruiser. It hit the vehicle head-on, before coming to a stop.

The two officers in the cruiser received minor injuries.

The driver, a 15-year-old female from Red Deer, now faces a number of charges including assaulting police officer and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

The 14-year-old male passenger from Blackfalds has been charged with taking a motor vehicle without consent, and failing to stop for police.
