DUCK LAKE, Sask. – RCMP have charged a 15-year-old boy who allegedly made threats to shoot staff members at a school in Duck Lake, Sask. on Wednesday.

At 4:15 p.m., Mounties received a complaint that a student had made threats to shoot three staff members at Stobart Community School.

RCMP say staff immediately put the school into a “hold & secure” mode.

Administration says they implemented their Prairie Spirit emergency response protocol and the outside doors were locked and the school and daycare were secured.

Most students had already left for the day.

School employees searched the school but the youth was not found and then the remaining students were allowed to leave.

At 4:45 p.m., a 15-year-old boy was arrested near the health clinic on Beardy’s and Okemasis First Nation.

His charges include uttering threats and mischief.

The accused is from the First Nation and he was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.

Due to the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, his name will not be released.

No firearm was reported.
