Video: An escaped former Hells Angels hit-man may have chosen death over going back to jail.
TORONTO – A convicted murderer and former Hells Angel member who escaped from a minimum-security prison in Quebec has been found dead, according to reports.
The St. Catharines Standard reported police found the body of Rene Charlebois in a Sainte-Anne-de-Sorel home early Thursday morning.
Charlebois, 48, was discovered missing Sept. 14 during a head count by staff at Montee Saint-Francois prison in Laval.
Charlebois was convicted on murder charges in the 2003 megatrial against the Hells Angels biker gang.
He was also doing time for drug-related convictions.
Following the escape of the former Hells Angel, federal public safety minister Steven Blaney launched review into security classification for violent and dangerous inmates to ensure they’re appropriately imprisoned.
