TORONTO – Hollywood actor Corey Haim will be buried Tuesday following a private funeral north of Toronto.

The 38-year-old was found dead last week in his Los Angeles home. He had been suffering from flu-like symptoms. A coroner’s report has yet to be released and will determine if prescription drugs played any role in his death.

Haim, a Toronto native, was best known as an ’80s teen heartthrob after starring in the movie the Lost Boys.

The small, private ceremony will be held at the Steeles Memorial Chapel in Thornhill at 11 a.m.

His mother, Judy Haim, was quoted in U.S. media over the weekend saying that the city of Toronto will foot some of the funeral costs because her son had recently filed for bankruptcy and the family had no money to pay for the ceremony. On Monday, the city refuted the claim saying that it have yet to receive an application for financial assistance from the Haim family.

Some of Haim’s friends have stepped up and donated money toward the ceremony.

Lifelong friend and Lost Boys co-star Corey Feldman said he will not attend the funeral out of respect for Haim’s family’s wishes to keep it private.

"You (should) also know the only reason I am truly not there is out of respect for your mother and her wishes to minimize the media attention as much as possible," he wrote in a letter to Haim on his blog Tuesday. "I want your family to have a calm peaceful day. Hopefully we will not see one shot of the funeral on the news. Just know I am at home today projecting positive energy for you and your passing."

Feldman also wrote he tried to help Haim as much as he could.

"My mission in life became saving yours. I never gave up, I tried … I walked away, but I always came back, to let you know I was there," he wrote. "In a dark and lonely world with spiteful angry people we always understood each others pain."

Feldman, also starred in a recent reality show with Haim called The Two Coreys, will organize a memorial for his friend in Los Angeles.
