Municipal election race begins

City Hall was buzzing with political activity Monday morning, long lines snaking into the halls and a waiting room full of election hopefuls.

This will be the first time that a four year term is required from each elected member.

Five current councillors are seeking re-election:

Ryan Parker

They are among the 29 candidates vying for eight spots on council including:

It was a busy morning for Lethbridge residents with many candidates announcing their intentions throughout the summer months.

While nominations closed this afternoon, candidates will have a full 24 hours to withdraw their name. But after 12 o’clock Tuesday, the 2013 election race officially begins.
