VERNON — An assault investigation in Vernon is now a homicide.
The victim has been identified as Paul Jakubczyk, 53, who was found unconscious, suffering from serious injuries in the parking lot of the Vernon Lodge on Friday, September 6.

Shortly after he was found, police put out a public appeal for witnesses who may have seen a fight or suspicious activity in the parking lot.
Jakubczyk died Monday night.
He was known to police. Jakubczyk was wanted in 2005 on a Canada wide warrant for a parole violation.
