TORONTO – An elderly man is in critical condition after being pulled from a burning home in Richmond Hill overnight.
The fire broke out on North Lake Road early Tuesday morning.

Two people walking by heard the fire alarms going off and ran into the home to try to save the 70-year-old resident, but there was too much smoke and they had to retreat.
Firefighters arrived and pulled the victim from the home a short time later.
There’s no word on how the fire started.
Initial reports by officials say the fire does not appear to be suspicious.
