Stolen dog in Toronto found and returned to owner, man charged with theft

Toronto police say a dog that was stolen has been safely recovered and a man has been arrested in connection with the theft of the animal.

Police said that a woman left her dog outside a store in the area of Dovercourt Road and Dundas Street West at 10 a.m. Wednesday when a man took the dog and went east on Dundas.

Officers said the 12-year-old dog, named Spencer, is a Chihuahua mix.

Police said the dog was found Wednesday night and returned to its owner.

William Andrew Ryan Locke, 39, was arrested and has been charged with theft under $5,000.

He is scheduled for a court appearance on Feb. 2.
