Workers had previously been on the site to vent the in-ground tanks and when they came back this morning to cut the tanks, fumes were still inside, and that is what caused the explosion.

No one was injured but there was minor window damage to the gas station. Traffic in the was also snarled for most of the morning while police investigated.

WorkSafeBC is also conducting an investigation, but police are not considering the incident suspicious.
