CALGARY- SAIT has unveiled its latest expansion plans, and the mega-makeover will give students better access to new technology.
A $60 million renovation is underway at the Thomas Riley building, where 160,000 square feet have been dedicated to the trades. Upgrades include a 3D virtual painter, which is the only one of its kind in Canada. The technology teaches journeyman painter’s how to spray paint—without a single drop falling on the floor.

“It just really gives them that little extra edge that other people don’t have,” says instructor Mike Bignell. “That’s what we are here for, to train the future.”
SAIT now has over 16,000 full time students, and continues to grow.
