Teen girl hit near north Edmonton’s Lago Lindo Elementary School: EPS

A teenage girl was taken to hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries Thursday morning after being hit by a car in the north Edmonton neighbourhood of Lago Lindo.

According to police, the girl was walking her dog near the intersection of 95 Street and 176 Avenue. She was attempting to cross 95 Street when she was hit by a southbound Mazda 3.

911 was called shortly after 8:30 a.m.

Paramedics responded and took the girl to the hospital. The driver, as well as the victim’s dog, were not injured.

At about 12:15 p.m., police issued an update saying the intersection was open again. There was no update on the victim.
At around 9:15 a.m., police issued a news release asking drivers to avoid the area near Lago Lindo Elementary School as officers investigated the collision.

It’s the second time in two days a child was hit near a school in the Edmonton area.

On Wednesday, two children were rushed to hospital in Sherwood Park after being hit by a vehicle near Lakeland Ridge School.

The road was closed for about two hours as officers investigated.

The children were described to be in “serious but non-life-threatening” condition Wednesday.
