Busy day for crews across Metro Vancouver, cleaning up after lightning storm

Residents in North Vancouver had to wait hours for the power to be restored to their neighobourhood following yesterday’s lightning storm.

The 4,000 block of Ruby Avenue in North Vancouver lost power during the storm and it was not turned on until 12:40 p.m. today.

Crews from BC Hydro had to fix a blown transformer.

Lightning hit the power line, ran down the line and then blew out the transformer.

Many neighbourhoods were plunged into darkness during the storm that raged for hours as it moved across Metro Vancouver.
