Gatineau police said Thursday the two girls, aged three and five, were “beyond any doubt” killed by their 51-year-old father.

They said their conclusion that two murders were followed by a suicide was based on autopsy results and other analysis.

The girls’ bodies showed no signs of violence, police said.

Officers discovered the three bodies while making a wellness check in the city’s Aylmer district at about 2 p.m. on Wednesday.

The police force said it was in contact with officials with the school and daycare attended by the girls to ensure proper resources were in place.
