VERNON — Deborah Ashton’s long legal battle appears to be over.
The former Vernon teacher went through three trials in two years, facing charges of sexual misconduct involving a former student, and perjury. Ashton was acquitted on the sexual misconduct charges last spring.

The latest trial came to a close at the end of July, where Ashton was found not guilty of perjury.
The Crown says it won’t appeal the latest decision.
