2 people taken to hospital after crash in Toronto’s east end

Paramedics say two people have been taken to hospital after a crash in Toronto’s east end on Monday.

Toronto police said in a news release that emergency crews were called to Victoria Park and Sheppard avenues at 10:33 a.m.

The news release said a 56-year-old man was driving a grey 2015 Toyota Sienna east on Sheppard Avenue at Victoria Park Avenue.

A 35-year-old woman was driving a 2014 Dodge Caravan west on Sheppard Avenue turning left onto Victoria Park Avenue.

Police said the two vehicles collided and a 72-year-old man standing on the southeast corner of the intersection was struck by the Toyota as the vehicle flipped on its side.

Police said the 72-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital.

A paramedics spokesperson added that a second patient was taken to a local hospital.

An investigation into the incident is underway and anyone with information or video footage was asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
