Police say the shooting occurred in the area of Vinewood Court and Cleveland Avenue, in the Glen Cairn neighbourhood, just after noon on Friday.

Police say officers found a man with a gunshot wound. He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police add.

Police say two suspects were arrested and a firearm was located, but police have not provided information on the suspects or on potential charges.

While the investigation is still ongoing, police “do not believe that this was a random incident.”

In an update on Tuesday, police announced that an 18-year-old man and a youth are both facing charges including aggravated assault, possession of a firearm obtained by crime, and more.

The adult faces additional charges including discharging a firearm with intent to wound or endanger life, discharging a firearm in a reckless manner, and carrying a concealed weapon.

Meanwhile, the London District Catholic School Board says nearby St. Sebastian Catholic Elementary School “was placed on a temporary Lockdown followed by a Hold and Secure.”

In a letter to parents and guardians, principal Paula Trudell-Gregory says the decision was made “out of an abundance of caution” due to police concern that a “suspect may have passed through the school’s field.”

The letter did not provide any other details about what kind of a police investigation the hold and secure was in response to, but said that “sweeps of the building occurred and additional precautions were put in place for the school day today, including having officers present for the remainder of the school day.

“In addition, today’s afternoon recess was held indoors. Students and staff were directed to report any suspicious activity.”
