Couple moves wedding to Pitt Meadows following Gambier Island fire

It may not be the wedding venue they first chose, but one couple tied the knot today at a new venue after their first was burned down in a lightning storm.

Kymberly Forest and Carlin Gall were supposed to get married on Gambier Island, but the dining hall was destroyed in a fire.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

So they and their wedding planner scrambled and managed to relocate the ceremony and reception to a venue in Pitt Meadows.

“It’s kind of ironic because the whole time I said ‘I don’t care what happens as long as I get to marry Carlin and I can dance,” said Forest. “So that’s still happening! And it’s so beautiful here so it’s awesome, everything’s great.”
