There’s still no word on a cause and arson is not being ruled out.
The hall, which was built in 1929, is owned by the Westbank Lions Club but is used by multiple community groups.
The basement is home to the Red Cross equipment loans service, the Boys and Girls Club and an alternate school run by SD 23.
There’s no word on the extent of the damage or if any part of the building is salvageable.
The community hall was supposed to house a wedding reception this afternoon, now the wedding planner is scrambling to find a last minute venue.
