Improvement shown in Laval girl in murder-suicide attempt

MONTREAL – There has been a slight improvement in the health of the 7-year-old girl found unconscious in Laval early Wednesday morning, according to police.

Constable Nathalie Lorrain of the Laval Police said that the girl had been taken off her breathing apparatus.

She remains unconscious, but is breathing on her own.

Her mother is still in critical condition.

The 35-year-old woman was found unresponsive in bed, next to her daughter, at 7 am.

Pill containers were found next to them, though police is not sure what type of pills they are.

Police say they believe it was a murder-suicide attempt.

The woman’s husband had been quoted saying his wife had been going through a depression recently and has been on medication.

The three other children in the household were not harmed.
