Tour de France winner coming to Quebec for Grand Prix Cyclistes

MONTREAL – Winner of the 100th Tour de France, Britain’s own Christopher Froome has announced he is coming to Quebec for the fourth annual Grand Prix Cyclistes.

He is the second Brit in a row to come in first at the Tour de France and organizers say they are extremely excited that he is coming to compete here in Canada.

The Grand Prix Cyclistes events are set to take place in Quebec City on September 12th and  Montreal on September 13th to 15th.

Organizers have released the list of participants, headlining the event along with Froome are Alberto Contador, Peter Sagan, Cadel Evans, Ryder Hesjedal and Andy Schleck.

The event will have 21 teams with eight riders each, 19 of which are ProTeams from the UCI WorldTour circuit, which will include many riders from the Tour de France and Giro D`Italia.

The Grands Prix Cyclistes have established themselves on the international cycling circuit and are among the highest-level sports events held in the province.

The Quebec City and Montreal races are the only events on the UCI WorldTour circuit to take place in North America.
