Kelowna man wins Ironman Canada

Trevor Wurtele from Kelowna has won this year’s Ironman Canada with a time of 8 hours, 39 minutes, and 33 seconds.

Matthew Russell came in second place.

Wurtele’s supporters and team tweeted his progress along the course.

The first woman to cross the finish line was Uli Bromme from Boulder Colorado, with a time of 9 hours, 28 minutes, and 13 seconds.

Ironman Canada, which used to be held in Penticton, was held in Whistler this year and was made up of three components:

– a 2.4 mile swim

– 112 mile bike ride

– 26.2 mile run
