MONTREAL – Quebec Liberal Party leader Philippe Couillard is running for office in his own backyard.
At a news conference at the Saint-Félicien Zoo Thursday morning, he announced the rumours were in fact true.
He will be representing his own neighbours in Saguenay-Lac St. Jean, in the riding of Roberval.
Couillard said that in his mind, a politician needs to be well-grounded in a community to understand the reality of what the people need.
“What I want to tell you is that if I am candidate in Roberval, it’s because this is where I live with my wife Suzanne,” added the Quebec Liberal Party leader.
Even though Couillard was offered to run unopposed in the Montreal North riding of Viau, he choose to stay home and represent his home town.
Couillard did not hesitate to rip the PQ government, saying “it has more days behind it than ahead.”
