TORONTO – Tropical Depression Nine-E formed in the Pacific Ocean Thursday morning.
The storm, located south of Baja California, is slowly moving north-northwestward at 9 km/h. The storm is expected to pick up speed into Saturday.

Winds are near 55 km/h with higher gusts.
Though the storm is tracking along the Baja California peninsula, the National Hurricane Center in Miami, Fla., is forecasting the eye to stay away from land.
With the storm moving northwestward, people along the peninsula will likely begin to feel the effects such as high waves and rain into the weekend.
The depression is forecast to become a tropical storm Thursday night or early Friday.
