Additional charges laid in Wasaga Beach, Ont., homicide investigation

Police have charged a 25-year-old Brampton man with second-degree murder in connection with a homicide investigation in Wasaga Beach, Ont.

Officers have also dropped second-degree murder charges that were previously laid against a different 25-year-old Brampton man and a 21-year-old Etobicoke man. Those two individuals are now each charged with assault with a weapon.

Police said emergency services were called to Beach Area 1 at about 12:40 a.m. Sunday. They found a man with life-threatening injuries.

Despite efforts to resuscitate him, police said the man died at the scene from stab wounds. He’s since been identified at Mustafa Khaleel, 23, from Mississauga.

Micha Duran, 25, from Brampton, is now the only individual charged with second-degree murder.

He appeared in court on Wednesday and has been remanded in custody.

Police believe many people were in the vicinity of Beach Area 1 when the incident occurred.

The investigation is ongoing
