For anyone who has been to see the President’s Choice Superdogs show at the PNE in the last couple of years, you may recognize Snap, Crackle, and Pop.

The three pugs have been delighting crowds at the annual PNE show for the last three years, and trainer Lisa Sun said her dogs love being in the show.

She actually has seven Superdogs in total, including the ‘Sedin Twins’ – two Boxers.

“It helps to have a dog that knows how to learn, how to play,” said Sun, who owns the dog training school, K9 Incredibles, in Richmond.

For Sun, becoming part of the President’s Choice Superdogs was a dream come true. “A passion that turned into something I love to do now,” she said.

Breaking news from Canada and around the world sent to your email, as it happens.

While her three pugs, and her Boston Terrier Bambam, love performing for the crowd, they love to please Sun even more.

“Every dog is a Superdog,” she said. “Learning is fun and you have to let the dog say to themselves ‘oh you made learning so fun, what can I lean tomorrow? Anything you offer me may be rewarded’. You’re allowing them to be creative.”

It can take years to train a dog to be a Superdog, and learn to deal with all the distractions of the lights, music, crowds, and other dogs, but Sun said the experience is so rewarding, especially performing to a home crowd at the PNE.

“You get to go home to your own bed at night,” she laughed. “It’s great when you hear them calling out your dog’s names.”
