TORONTO — Actress Amber Heard, currently making headlines for her relationship with Johnny Depp, has opened up about her four-year relationship with another woman, photographer Tasya van Ree.
“I will never beg for an easy classification or label for that moment in my life, or assume to know what the future holds for me,” she told Net-A-Porter. “I have had relationships, successful relationships, with men, and I had a great relationship with a wonderful woman.”

Heard, 27 said she felt a responsibility to talk about her relationship with Ree, 37.
“Hiding denotes shame,” she said. “I feel, and felt, zero shame. We all love who we love; we don’t choose it.”
The Texas native first appeared on the big screen in 2004’s Friday Night Lights and followed it with parts in the action flick Never Back Down and the comedy Pineapple Express. She co-starred with Depp in 2011’s The Rum Diary.
Heard can be seen in Paranoia, now in theatres, opposite Harrison Ford and Liam Hemsworth.
The star said the endings of her previous relationships have all been good.
“I have never been part of a situation where there was mistrust, or betrayal,” she shared. “Going into relationships is just as difficult as coming out of them. I have never been in the situation where the two have overlapped.
“I can’t imagine how difficult that would be.”
