Justine Pimlott produced, directed & wrote the hour- long documentary Laugh In The Dark, which was awarded Best Social Issue Documentary at Hot Docs and Best Canadian Film at the Inside Out Film Festival in Toronto.
With Maya Gallus Justine co-created, co- produced and co-directed the critically acclaimed reality series on women’s boxing for the Life Network, entitled Punch Like A Girl, for which she received two Gemini nominations for Best Direction In A Documentary Series.
Justine also co-produced and directed Fag Hags: Women Who Love Gay Men, winner of the Audience Award for Best Film at the Inside Out Film Festival & Audience Award for Best Canadian Film at the Reel Out Festival in Kingston. The documentary was broadcast on CBC’s The Passionate Eye, SRC & Showcase and screened at numerous festivals around the globe. Justine’s other directing credits include Chasing The Dream, a pre-Olympic special for CBC Sports on international women’s hockey and the 13-part reality series, Fire Station, for the Discovery Channel.
In 2007 Justine produced the feature length documentary, Girl Inside, which had its world premiere at Hot Docs and launched the new season of TVOntario’s The View From Here, and for which she received a 2008 Gemini nomination for the Donald Brittain Award for Best Social/Political Documentary. Her new film Cat City premieres fall 2009 on Global.
