Bait bike leads Whistler RCMP to bust alleged thieves

Whistler RCMP have arrested two people who are allegedly responsible for a series of bike thefts in the Sea to Sky corridor.

Mounties said a bait bike in Whistler was stolen early Friday morning.

They tracked the bike using GPS as it travelled southbound on Highway 99 from Whistler.

West Vancouver police set up a road block on the highway at Lawrence Way and stopped a U-Haul van carrying eight bicycles, including the bait bike.

A 45-year-old Vancouver man and a 47-year-old Surrey man were arrested and face several charges. Mounties said the suspects are very well known to them.

Police are asking anyone whose bike has recently been stolen from the area to contact Whistler RCMP at 604-932-3044.
