KAMLOOPS, BC — A campfire ban was issued two weeks ago, but recent patrols have found that some people are ignoring that prohibition.

The Kamloops Fire Centre is urging people to abide by the current ban.

Kayla Pepper from the Wildfire Management Branch says seven  violation tickets and 11 warnings have been given over the last two weekends.

Those who are caught face a $345 fine, people who light up fireworks can be fined $230.

The fire centre covers a large region, including: Kamloops, Clearwater, Lillooet, Salmon Arm, Merritt, Vernon and Penticton.
