A young couple murdered in Abbotsford last week are linked to the Bacon brothers and Red Scorpion gang, police are confirming.
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team says Bobby LeRoy Digeorgio, a known trafficker killed last week, was associated to the notorious brothers and the gang they head.
Digeorgio was found in a burned out vehicle near the U.S. border Aug. 27. His slain girlfriend Jessica Illes was found Aug. 30 in the rental house the couple shared on McConchie Place in Abbotsford.
Posters to the Vancouver Sun blog – The Real Scoop – wrote that both Digeorgio and Illes were working for the Bacons and the RS. They also said the pair was targeted by the rival United Nations gang.
Cpl. Dale Carr said investigators have been getting many tips from the public about the Digeorgio and Illes and the activities preceding their murders.
"Investigators have uncovered information that shows DiGeorgio had links to the Red Scorpion Gang and the Bacon Brothers Crime Group," Carr said in a news release. "Investigators have learned that DiGeorgio and Illes committed their serious criminal and drug activity with the assistance of others throughout the Fraser Valley region."
He said others that were working with Illes and DiGeorgio should contact police.
"Investigators want to speak to these people for two reasons, firstly we are concerned for their safety and want to check on their well being," he said. "Secondly we want to learn additional information regarding the murder of Illes and DiGeorgio."
The two murders bring to six the number of 2009 slayings in Abbotsford that police believe are directly linked to the victims’ involvement with the Red Scorpions and Bacon brothers.
In addition, Bacon associate Kevin LeClair was gunned down in Langley in February and several others from the Red Scorpion gang have been wounded by gunfire, shot at and beaten.
