Neighbour, Theresa Rawlins, says she heard a loud bang and looked out her window.

“I looked out my bedroom window to see the neighboring complex had a small fire burning from the roof of one house.  I yelled at my daughter to get dressed and ran down stairs and over to the house to see if everyone was out.”

Rawlins says it appeared everyone got out safely.

“The fire trucks were not there when I first got there but arrived about  five minutes later.  There was only one unit on fire at first,  but it quickly grew to two units,” says Rawlins.

The Vernon Fire Department confirms that two homes suffered heavy damage. It says a total of three residents have been affected by the fire.

The cause is under investigation.
