Lethbridge police said Monday that an earlier report of an attempted child abduction was all a misunderstanding.
In an update, police said they had determined there was no criminal intent involved in the incident.
In a news release issued Monday morning, police said a 12-year-old girl called them at around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Police said the girl had reported that a van pulled up beside her on Henderson Lake Boulevard S., close to the Lakeview School baseball diamonds, and that its occupants had chased her on foot.
“Subsequent investigation into the incident Monday, April 5, 2021 determined that the van and occupants were in the area on a group outing and were running to a nearby park to play ball,” police said in a news release late Monday.
