The BC Coroners Service has identified the woman who plunged to her death off a steep slope on the Stawamus Chief near Squamish a week ago.
Fifty-seven-year-old Vancouver resident Gabriole VanKeith was hiking alone on the Black Dyke trail when she fell.
Witnesses heard her scream and saw the fall. Emergency officials found VanKeith about 30 minutes later and pronounced her dead at the scene.
Although she was not carrying identification, officials were able to gather information from her car, which was parked nearby.
The BC Coroners Service continues to investigate the death, however, it is believed to be a tragic accident.
