TORONTO — The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) has named Megan Park, Johnathan Sousa, Evelyne Brochu and Cara Gee this year’s Rising Stars.
It’s the third year for TIFF’s professional development program that immerses actors in festival events and puts them in direct contact with movie industry movers and shakers.
Park is a native of Lindsay, Ontario who stars opposite Daniel Radcliffe in The F Word, a made-in-Toronto drama that will be screened at TIFF. Best known for her role as Grace on the TV series The Secret Life of the American Teenager, she has also had guest roles on shows like Happy Endings and The Newsroom.

Sousa, who appears at TIFF in The Animal Project and in What We Have. A graduate of Ryerson’s Theatre School, the actor has starred in several short films and also wrote, produced and directed his own short film, Home. He can also be seen in the new season of Rookie Blue.
Brochu grew up in Pointe-Claire, Quebec and has earned acclaim for her work in such films as Polytechnique, Inch’Allah and Café de Flore. She also appeared in the made-in-Toronto series Orphan Black. Brochu stars in Xavier Dolan’s new film Tom à la ferme, which will be shown at TIFF.
Gee, a Calgary-born actress who stars in the TIFF selection Empire of Dirt, has a long list of theatre credits as well as guest roles on shows like King and the upcoming web series Darknet.
