Gyllenhaal, Radcliffe, Monteith films to debut at TIFF

TORONTO — Quebec director Denis Villeneuve’s psychological thriller Enemy, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, will have its world premiere next month in the city where it was made.

Programmers at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) announced Wednesday the line-up of Canadian films at this year’s festival, which runs Sept. 5 to 15.

Among the titles are All The Wrong Reasons, a made-in-Halifax drama starring the late Cory Monteith, and the Toronto-shot romantic comedy The F Word, starring Daniel Radcliffe.

Bruce McDonald’s The Husband, Peter Stebbings’ Empire of Dirt, Catherine Martin’s A Journey and the documentary Watermark will have their world premieres at TIFF.

Quebec director Xavier Dolan’s Tom at the Farm will have its North American debut, as well as Louise Archambault’s Gabrielle.

Other films on the list of 20 include Ingrid Veninger’s The Animal Project, starring Aaron Poole; Terry Miles’ Cinemanovels, Bruce Sweeney’s The Dick Knost Show, Richie Mehta’s Siddharth and Sebatien Pilote’s Le Demantelement.

Orange is the New Black star Taylor Schilling appears in Stay, which will have its world premiere at TIFF along with Triptych from Robert Lepage and Pedro Pires.

Controversial director Bruce LaBruce’s Gerontophilia will make its North American debut.

TIFF also announced that for the first time, all the entries in its Short Cuts Canada program will be available on YouTube for a limited time following their festival screenings.
