Wanted federal offender arrested in Kingston, OPP say

OPP are looking for a federal offender who allegedly fled a halfway house in Kingston Monday evening. OPP

OPP’s repeat offender parole enforcement (ROPE) squad says a federal offender wanted for breaching release conditions was arrested in Kingston.

According to OPP, Thusanth Ariyanayagam was picked up Tuesday night by Kingston police after he fled a halfway house in the city Monday evening.

His arrest came just hours after OPP sent out a call to the public asking for help to find him.

Ariyanayagam is currently serving a two-year sentence for assault with a weapon, assault and breach of recognizance.

Kingston police is working on a response to provide more details about Tuesday night’s arrest.
