The Regina Police Service said a man has died after being hit by a Regina Transit bus Wednesday afternoon.
Police said the incident happened in the 2300 block of Broad Street shortly before 2 p.m.
Southbound lanes of Broad Street and 15th Avenue to College Avenue were closed off to traffic for about two hours, but have since reopened.
Police said the man was declared dead at a Regina hospital.
Statements were gathered from potential witnesses including the bus driver, according to police.
In an update late Wednesday afternoon, police said they’re are working to identify the victim and notify his next of kin. They asked that anyone who may have additional information contact RPS headquarters at 306-777-6500 or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
Early Wednesday evening, the City of Regina issued a statement on behalf of city manager Chris Holden. The statement extends condolences to the victim’s family and thanks first responders who attended the scene. The statement added the city will co-operate fully with police, and no additional comment will be made while the investigation is in progress.
