Nicknames… Tash, Nat, Gargiulo!
My mom says I’m… Thoughtful & have a BIG heart…ahh Ma!
Five things you didn’t know about me…
1. I danced for a Montreal group who had the #1 dance hit of the summer, appeared in 3 of their music videos, and toured with the band all the way to Japan!
2. I played the role of the anchor in NBC TV series 10.5… Apocalypse.
3. I was a 4-time Provincial Champion Cheerleader. Yup, and I USED to do 5 back-handsprings in a row!
4. I can speak four languages; English, Francais, Italiano and Espanol.
5. I love musicals! As a kid I would spend hours in the basement, with the music full-blast and pretend I was performing on Broadway!
When I grow up I want to be… Still sitting at the kiddie table during our massive family gatherings!
My favourite interview…
Will Smith – What you see is what you get and he is AWESOME!
Meryl Streep – Incredibly down-to-earth… you wish the interview would never end.
Michael Bublé – He sang an Italian love song to me during an interview, and likes to brag about his Italian citizenship. He is playful, spontaneous and always a pleasure to talk to.
My celeb crush is… Johnny Depp, Justin Timberlake, and Andy Garcia, I love a man who can act, sing, and dance!
Best movie or TV show of all time… Loved Fame, Flashdance, Grease, Three’s Company, many ’80s sitcoms. Legends of the Fall still pulls at the heart strings, and I never get bored of watching reruns of Sex and the City and The Sopranos.
Insider tip… Do your research and be prepared for sudden changes …anything can happen and it usually does!
Proudest moment… Charity work, helping to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for the Quebec Breast Cancer Foundation, and delivering toys to kids during Christmas at the Children’s Hospitals.
Most embarrassing moment… College assignment: Interview a media personality that you admire. I contacted a national TV Host and was waiting for a call back. That same day, I was also expecting a call from my cat’s veterinarian regarding his pesky flea problem. When the phone rang, this is how the conversation played out.
TV HOST: Hello, is this Natasha? I hear you have been expecting my call?
ME: Oh, oh yes… thanks for returning my call. I’m worried about my cat’s fleas.
TV HOST: What, ahh… well, how do you think I can help?
ME: Well… I thought perhaps you had some suggestions for me, the problem seems to be getting worse.
TV HOST: Well ummm, I don’t know, did you try some shampoos?
ME: (confused and irritated, because she knows I have) Yes! I tried them all and nothing seems to be working. That’s why I am calling you!
TV HOST: Well I don’t know, maybe you should call your vet?
ME: WHAT? (I wanted to hang up the receiver, instead I just froze and said nothing …I was completely mortified).
Turns out it was a great icebreaker, she too had pets and was a cat lover, the interview was a breeze, and I aced the assignment!
In my spare time I love to… Cook. I loved watching my mom in the kitchen when I was little, now the Food Network is always on in my kitchen. When I am not cooking, I love being active, dancing, travelling and discovering new cities.
In 20 years I’ll be… Older, wiser, making a difference, and still loving my job!
