HALIFAX – Six fire trucks swarmed a Halifax pool after an odour was detected Wednesday.
Around noon, Halifax Regional Fire responded to a report of an odour at Centennial Pool. The building was evacuated as a precaution.
“Upon entry, we took our meters in and nothing was found at the time,” said Mike Blackburn, division commander.
“We’re not sure if the ventilation system brought something in from the exterior or it was just an odour that might have been there for a while.”
Blackburn says the meters did not detect chlorine or carbon monoxide.
“Our firefighters were unable to detect specifically what it might have been.”
He adds that six trucks is a standard response to these types of situations.
“We initially got it as a fire alarm activated. Then there was a detection of an odour in the building so we upgraded to a possible structure fire,” Blackburn said.
There were no injuries.
