SASKATOON – A celebration is planned this Wednesday to mark the opening of Saskatoon’s Circle Drive South Bridge.
A ceremony to mark the opening takes place at 2 p.m. with local, provincial and federal dignitaries in attendance.
After that, a bridge parade will happen at 2:30 p.m., which will be the only time people will be able to walk or cycle across the new bridge.
Access to the event is by bicycle or shuttle only.
Cyclists will be able to proceed through the new Lorne Avenue on-ramp south of the Western Development Museum and then follow the directions of road marshals.

Park and ride is also available from the WDM parking lot with free Saskatoon Transit shuttle service to the new bridge starting at 1 p.m.
There will also be free shuttle service from the Confederation station at 1:00 and 1:15 p.m. and from the downtown special events stop at 1:15 and 1:30 p.m.
Shuttles will depart after the parade is over with the last ones leaving at 3:45 p.m.
The bridge will then open to traffic at 8 p.m.
Not all roads and pathways will open on Wednesday.
The multi-use pathways from the bridge to 11th Street are slated to open in late August.
Portage Avenue is just being completed and should open in early August.
Jasper Avenue will not open until traffic lights are installed, which is anticipated by early fall and the new Preston Avenue South interchange is scheduled to open by October.
The Circle Drive South Project, the largest infrastructure development in the city’s history, was originally scheduled to open last Sept. 30.
The opening was pushed back after weather delayed construction.
